Brisbane captain Justin Hodges and forward Adam Blair have failed in their bid to prove their fitness for Friday night’s NRL blockbuster against the Sydney Roosters.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett confirmed on Thursday morning that neither player had overcome their injury concerns and Brisbane would go in with the same squad named earlier in the week.

Their absence is a blow as the Broncos prepare for the visit of a fired-up Roosters outfit keen to redeem themselves after an upset loss to Cronulla last round.
