Luke Burgess called into England squad

South Sydney prop Luke Burgess has been called into the England rugby league squad to replace the suspended James Graham.

Burgess, 25, will join younger brother and fellow Rabbitoh Sam in coach Steve McNamara’s 24-man squad for the upcoming 10-day high-altitude training camp in South Africa ahead of a triangular Test series against Wales and France.

Canterbury’s Graham was ruled out of the England squad after being a handed a 12-match ban on Thursday night for biting Melbourne’s Billy Slater in the Bulldogs’ 14-4 grand final loss to the Storm last Sunday.

The suspension has opened the door for Burgess to make his Test debut with England to play Wales in Wrexham on October 27 before lining up against France in Hull on November 3.

There will be a third Test for England should they make the final of the series a week later in Salford.
