Jason Ryles joins Storm coaching staff

Former Kangaroos prop Jason Ryles has joined Melbourne’s coaching staff for the 2016 NRL season.

The Storm announced on Thursday that Ryles would serve as an assistant coach under Craig Bellamy.

Ryles, who spent his final two seasons of a 13-year NRL career with the Storm, will be the club’s forwards coach.

He takes over from Justin Morgan.

For the past two years the 36-year-old Ryles has coached West Wollongong in the Illawarra competition, leading them to a grand final appearance this year.

Ryles played 249 games with St George Illawarra, Sydney Roosters and the Storm. He spent the 2009 season with Super League outfit Catalans Dragons.

He played 15 Tests for Australia and eight State of Origin matches for NSW.
