Brisbane halfback Ben Hunt is a step closer to making his NRL return from injury against Wests Tigers on Friday night.

The Broncos will monitor how he pulls up from Tuesday training before deciding whether he returns from a six-week hamstring injury.

Centre James Roberts (ankle) looks set to return on Friday night after training strongly while the Broncos played down concerns for forwards Matt Gillett and Josh McGuire after they were on light duties on Tuesday.
