High shot not Frizell’s go: say Dragons

Foul play isn’t part of Tyson Frizell’s game according to his coach Paul McGregor, with the St George Illawarra back-rower facing a stint on the sidelines for his high hit on Canterbury prop Tim Browne.

Frizell was lucky to stay on the field for the 50th minute hit at ANZ Stadium on Sunday when Brown was knocked out and didn’t return to the contest.

The tackle was put on report in the Dragons 31-6 win and is sure to come under intense scrutiny when the match review panel studies the footage on Monday.

“It’s not the way Tyson plays,” McGregor said.

“If you look it at that way, that’s not the issue. He was certainly upset with the way it finished because if Jack didn’t cut the bloke in half so much then he wouldn’t have been so far forward.

“It was more a timing thing rather than an aggressive thing.”

Cronulla forward Andrew Fifita is also set to come under scrutiny from the match review for an ugly tackle on Newcastle’s Adam Clysdale in Sharks win on Friday, their second in a row.
