Foran deal not done yet: Manly

NRL premiers Manly insist they are yet to complete the re-signing of star five-eighth Kieran Foran despite coach Geoff Toovey confirming the deal on radio on Friday morning.

The Sea Eagles released a statement in response to reports the club had secured Foran to a three-year deal worth $1.95 million – allegedly rejecting an approach to join Canterbury and reunite with former Manly coach Des Hasler.

“We’re in final discussions with Kieran Foran about his future with the Sea Eagles, but no deal has been signed yet,” Sea Eagles chief executive David Perry said in the statement.

“The club will make a formal announcement when it’s appropriate.”

Toovey told Sky Sports Radio’s The Big Sports Breakfast after months of the process dragging out that a deal had been done.

“There’s a lot of excitement amongst the players about it,” Toovey said.

“And all the fans should be very happy about it. I think it’s a vote of confidence in the club as a whole. We’re very happy about it.”

A formal announcement on Foran’s decision is expected next week.
