Watters wary of winless AFL Demons

MELBOURNE April 27 AAP – St Kilda coach Scott Watters has warned that Melbourne are on the verge of their first AFL win of the year ahead of Saturday night’s AFL match at the MCG.

While the Demons have started the season with four losses, St Kilda have two wins and will start the match as strong favourites.

But Watters said on Friday they are still smarting from last weekend’s narrow loss to Fremantle and there are some areas of their game that need immediate improvement.

Watters also noted that Melbourne showed a lot of improvement a week ago when they lost to the Western Bulldogs.

“There are too many good players to underestimate where they are at and their performance was improved last week,” Watters said.

“So they are probably not too far away from getting on the board and we have to make sure it’s not against us.”

The new St Kilda coach added that his team had been outstanding in the first month of the season and could easily have a 4-0 record.

“We’re two and two, that’s the reality of it and we have got work to do to fight our way back into this competition,” Watters said.

“But I am really happy with where this group is at and their commitment.”
