Des Hasler can help Foran, says Klemmer

Des Hasler is the man to get Kieran Foran’s NRL career back on track.

That’s the opinion of giant Canterbury prop David Klenner who insists that can only happen when Foran deals with the personal issues that resulted in his exit from Parramatta on Friday.

Foran has already been linked to a move to Canterbury where he could reunite with coach Hasler, under whom he won the 2011 premiership with at Manly.

“Des is a good bloke to have on your side and when Kieran is right to come back to rugby league a strong character like Des could definitely help him,” Klemmer said.

“But rugby league is the last thing he should be thinking about, he just needs to get himself right. That is the best way he can go about things.

“It is pretty disappointing for him to be linked to places when he just needs some time away from footy.

“He doesn’t need that at the moment, people saying where he needs to go, he just needs to take a break and get his mind right and get himself right that is the important thing.

“Rugby league should be the last thing he should be talking about, no one should be telling him rugby league is important right now.

“I wish him all the best. You don’t want to see anyone going through what he has.”

In handing down final sanctions against Parramatta for their salary cap indiscretions on Saturday, chief executive Todd Greenberg offered Foran the NRL’s support.

“Kieran is a young man who has had difficulties,” Greenberg said.

“He should be afforded time away from the game and we support him.”
