Preview:

The final match of the round is between the Sharks and Rabbitohs, kicking off on Monday, 4.45PM at Sharks Stadium. Cronulla are struggling big time this year, with four losses in a row and a narrow defeat last week to shatter their confidence even more. In contrast, Souths are coming off a narrow win against the Tigers last week, although it is fair to say they were far from outstanding in victory. You can’t go past the Rabbitohs in this one however, with another Hooker, Cameron Mcinnes, likely to play a key role in this game.

Cronulla Sharks:
Michael Gordon, Sosaia Feki, Ben Pomeroy, Jonathan Wright, Beau Ryan, Todd Carney, Jeff Robson, Andrew Fifita, John Morris, Ben Ross, Luke Lewis, Wade Graham, Paul Gallen. Interchange: Chris Heighington, Jayson Bukuya, Isaac De Gois, Anthony Tupou, Tyrone Peachey, Sam Tagatese

South Sydney Rabbitohs:

Gallen, Lewis out for Sharks

Cronulla have suffered two major setbacks ahead of Monday night’s home NRL clash with high-flying South Sydney, with NSW Origin stars Paul Gallen and Luke Lewis both ruled out through injury.

Gallen was expected to make his return from a knee injury, but pulled up sore during training late in the week.

The Blues skipper is reportedly in no doubt for Origin one in Sydney on Wednesday week, however it will be of some concern to NSW coach Laurie Daley that Gallen will have had no games under his belt going in to face the Queenslanders.

Despite Gallen’s attempts to get back on the park within a week after injuring himself against Newcastle in round eight, it seems the original prognosis of 3-4 weeks was correct.

Lewis missed the Sharks’ last-start win over Canberra with a shoulder problem and has also been scratched from facing the table-topping Rabbitohs.

However, the NSW back-rower was seen at Blues camp on Monday and isn’t expected to be in doubt for Origin.

Losing their two star back-rowers will make life difficult for the Sharks against the monster Rabbitohs pack.

Fullback Michael Gordon is tipped to face Souths, but is nursing a calf injury.
