Boyd Cordner is quietly confident he can overcome a calf injury to lead NSW in the State of Origin decider.

Cordner hasn’t played since coming off late in the Blues’ dramatic game two collapse in Sydney but has been working overtime to face Queensland on July 12.

“The calf’s going really well at the moment. It’s getting better day by day, which is a positive sign,” he told Fox Sports.

“As long as it keeps on track like that, the medical staff here at the (Sydney) Roosters are pretty happy with it.

“There’s still a lot of work to be done from now until State of Origin III but at the moment I’m quietly confident.”

The Roosters star admits he’s likely to be on light duties when the Blues begin preparations in Kingscliff on Tuesday but aims to resume full contact later in the week.

He hopes a return to the NSW north coast of will yield the same result as game one for the Blues.

“(For) game one, it was really good to get away up there from Sydney. I don’t know if it’s something about the air or the beaches, you just feel more relaxed when you’re up there,” he said.

Cordner believes the same 17 that blew a lead in Sydney will again be selected for game three at Suncorp Stadium.

“It looks that way at the moment. I’m not a selector or anything like that but I think with two solid performances in the first two games, I think everyone’s playing well,” he said.
