Campese to have surgery on knee

Canberra playmaker Terry Campese will have surgery on his left knee later on Tuesday, but it is still unknown how many weeks of NRL action he will miss.

The Raiders skipper was taken from the field during last week’s 30-6 loss to Brisbane after tearing the medial meniscus in his knee – the same injury he suffered in late 2010 forcing a nine-month lay-off.

Doctors say they will have a better idea of how long Campese needs for recovery once the operation is complete.
