Campese named Canberra NRL captain

Terry Campese has been named captain of Canberra for the upcoming NRL season.

Five-eighth Campese takes over from Alan Tongue, who retired at the end of last year.

“I love the Raiders and I’m extremely honoured to be named captain of the club I have been a part of since my youth,” Campese said.

“There’s been some magnificent leaders in the past including the most recent in Alan Tongue and I hope I can continue on from where he left off.”

Tongue had endorsed Campese as his logical successor last week.

David Shillington and Brett White were named vice captains.
