Burns to avoid NRL ban over high tackle

Penrith five-eighth Travis Burns looks set to escape suspension despite being charged with a high tackle from his team’s NRL loss to Manly on Monday night.

Burns received a grade one careless high tackle charge for his high shot on Sea Eagles second-rower Jamie Buhrer, but will escape a suspension with an early guilty plea.

That leaves the gritty playmaker free to play this Sunday when the Panthers host Wests Tigers.
