Brisbane Broncos vs Gold Coast Titans 2013 NRL Round 10 preview and tips

Only one point separated these two sides from their respective opponents last week.

For the Broncos it was a 19-18 loss when away to the Parramatta Eels and for the Titans, a victory (25-24) over St. George at Skilled Stadium.

The Broncos were caught off guard early by the Eels who ran in two tries in the opening six minutes of the game and the task of reeling in the home-side was made greater with the loss of Five-eighth Scott Prince early in the game due to injury.

Another significant loss was of Origin forward Ben Hannant who also left with an injury and didn’t return.

Brisbane missed Prince particularly as in the last ten minutes of the game, the Broncos looked aimless at times as they tried to conjure up the winning play.

It was the second loss in as many weeks for the Broncos and their record now stands at 4-5 for the season. One of their four wins however was over the Titans back in round 5, 32-20. It continued the impressive record they hold over their rivals from the Coast, having won eight of the last ten.

The Titans also have been in indifferent form over the past month, losing to Newcastle (6-30) and narrowly to the Warriors (25-24) in rounds 8 and 9 respectively before escaping courtesy of a field goal in the 67th minutes, with a one point win last week. That win now sees them sixth on the ladder with a 5-4 record.

Broncos have the superior record in these matches and need to bounce back, not only to keep touch with the top half of the competition but to also find some form before their side loses players to the Origin series but the Titans will get their chance here to exact revenge on the Broncos.
