V8 Supercars to show Goodes support

V8 Supercars will make a public show of support towards AFL star Adam Goodes.

The motorsport championship will use its television broadcast at this weekend’s Ipswich SuperSprint event at Queensland Raceway to deliver a message of support to the Sydney Swans player.

A replica of Goodes’ No.37 Swans jersey will be visible on track during the broadcast of Friday’s practice session and during Sunday’s 65-lap race.

“V8 Supercars would like to express its support for Adam Goodes, the 2014 Australian of the Year and a champion athlete with the Sydney Swans,” V8 Supercars chief executive James Warburton said.

“We realise this has been a divisive issue in the community but we want to acknowledge Adam who is not playing this weekend.

“The thoughts of the motorsport community are with Adam Goodes and we look forward to hopefully seeing him back on the football field soon.”
