Davison survives Symmons V8 scare

Will Davison has taken a dramatic V8 Supercars victory at Symmons Plains, surviving a late scare to triumph in Tasmania.

Davison was stripped of his pole position for blocking James Courtney in qualifying but took the lead in the dying stages.

With five laps remaining, the race was thrown into turmoil by an oil spill on the hair-pin turn which cost leader Shane van Gisbergen his race.

The chaos meant Davison and garage-mate Craig Lowndes could get by van Gisbergen and Mark Winterbottom, who finished third, to claim a one-two result for Holden.

Jamie Whincup finished 19th after an earlier bungle, while van Gisbergen was one of six drivers to record a DNF result.
