Smart sprinter Takedown is struggling to attract bets for Saturday’s Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot.
Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has eased Takedown from $8.00 out to $9.00. Favourite Malaguerra continues to be the favoured choice of punters and has firmed from $3.40 into $3.30 for the Group 1.
Sydney sprinter Terravista was well supported when betting opened, but his price has also eased from $3.60 out to $3.80. Outsider First Among Equals ($21) has plenty of admirers and Sheidel ($12) is not far behind Terravista in the popularity stakes.
“If Takedown can recapture his spring Sydney form he would be right in this race. He is definitely in the mix, but for some reason punters have dropped off and all the money has been for Malaguerra, who holds 10-times more than Takedown,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Bulmer.
