Tommy Berry unscathed after race fall

Tommy Berry will be taking extra care to secure his stirrups after he was dislodged from his mount shortly after the start of the fifth race at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Berry, who wasn’t injured, came off Stop The Press when his left iron came loose after he adjusted it in the mounting enclosure before the race.

“It’s weird, it got me all the way around there (to the barriers),” Berry said.

Berry told stewards he would be buying longer iron leathers to avoid a repeat of the drama.

The jockey was complaining of a headache after the tumble but was otherwise unscathed and passed fit to fulfil his remaining two rides.
