Saturday’s Kembla meeting now at Gosford

Torrential rain in recent days and a bleak forecast has forced Racing NSW stewards to transfer Saturday’s provincial meeting from Kembla Grange to Gosford.

Kembla Grange, to the south of Sydney, received more than 80mm of rain up until Wednesday afternoon and with more rain predicted, stewards made the decision on Thursday to transfer the meeting.

Gosford, north of Sydney on the NSW central coast, was rated in the dead range on Thursday.

Friday’s Sapphire Coast meeting is in serious doubt with a track inspection on Thursday afternoon to determine its fate after 120mm of rain fell there this week, including 79mm overnight.

A decision on the fate of Sunday’s Albury meeting is expected to be made on Saturday.

Meanwhile, The Australian Turf Club reported Rosehill was rated a heavy (8) on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s Group Two Silver Slipper and Hobartville Stakes fixture.

Rosehill has received 26mm of rain in the past 24 hours.
