SA bats first against Tasmania in Shield

South Australia will bat after winning the toss against Tasmania in the rain-affected Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

Wednesday’s opening day was washed out, hampering third-placed Tasmania (28 points) in their bid to make ground on Western Australia (30 points) and leaders Queensland (32 points).

The Tigers named Matt Johnston as their 12th man, a role filled by Mick Delaney for the last-placed Redbacks.

Thursday’s play has been extended by an hour amid forecasts of more possible showers.
