Oscietra odds on for debut at Flemington on New Years Day

The bookies rarely took a risk with Black Caviar and Sportsbet.com.au are following that path with her first foal, Oscietra, who makes her long awaited debut on New Years Day at Flemington in the New Year Plate (1000m).

The filly, who will make her debut over the same track/distance as her mother did in April 2009, has opened the $1.55 favourite which is almost half the price her mum ($3.00) opened on debut. She has had a couple of $1.55-$1.60 flucs.

She clearly dominates betting, with the next best being the Tony McEvoy trained Miss Wahoo at $6, ahead of Limestone at $7.50. One that represents value is I’ll Have A Bit, trained by John McArdle. She looked sharp in a jump out last week and could surprise at odds, but it really is all about Black Caviar…well, her foal at least.
