Feature racing hits top gear on the Gold Coast this weekend and we are set for an intriguing edition of the Magic Millions Classic!
Several of the runners engaged in this capacity field have turned in dominant performances in the lead-up to the Magic Millions Classic, and it has made for a quality betting race with plenty of value on offer.

Magic Millions Classic – Winner
It’s obviously a little difficult to tell who the genuine stars of tomorrow are given there isn’t bulk form to study, but I am of the opinion that Storm Boy has so far stamped himself as one to watch more than any other juvenile in the 2024 Magic Millions Classic field.
A colt by American Triple Crown winner Justify, Storm Boy showed plenty of raw ability at the trials prior to debuting, and he put the writing on the wall with a dominant win over 1100m at Rosehill last month.
Having backed up that effort with another easy win in the Group 3 McLachlan Stakes at Eagle Farm, he’s still open to plenty of improvement.
I’m not convinced that he’s beaten a whole lot talent-wise on either occasion, but I also think that can be said of Storm Boy’s leading rivals this week, and I think he’ll be tough to toss again.

Magic Millions Classic – 2nd
Of those in the market, I thought that Arabian Summer really did look the value at Magic Millions Classic odds of $7 (at publish).
Arabian Summer raced greenly at each of her first two career starts, both in black type company, but she still managed to run into the placings on both occasions.
Having broken her maiden with an utterly dominant effort in the Ballarat Magic Millions race in December, she arrived in Queensland last weekend for a similarly easy win in the Gold Pearl.
What I’ve liked about her so far is that she appears to be pretty versatile. She’s won dominantly from an on-pace position and after sitting in behind the leaders, and that could prove extremely handy in a two-year-olds feature.

Magic Millions Classic – 3rd
Spywire is another one that has shown plenty of raw ability since making his debut, but he’ll need plenty of luck from Barrier 12.
The Trapeze Artist colt never looked in doubt before kicking clear to break his maiden on debut at Rosehill in November, and after again pulling lengths ahead of his rivals in the Wyong Magic Millions feature, it was almost as though he hit a brick wall, and he was easily run down by Highness.
That being said, he bounced back with another easy win here at the Gold Coast last weekend, and he does appear to be in peak order for Saturday’s short back up. The booking of James McDonald obviously doesn’t hinder his chances either.

Magic Millions Classic – 4th
He’s a month between starts but Highness clearly goes well fresh, and he was a real winner at Tuesday’s Magic Millions Classic barrier draw (4).
He raced greenly and gave in quite easily before finishing sixth in the Breeders’ Plate on debut in October, but Highness displayed an outstanding turn of foot to win his only other start at Wyong, and he has been kept up to the mark with a trial since.
Tommy Berry was aboard for his Wyong victory and understandably retains the ride on the Gold Coast, and the horse does look up to fighting out the finish once more.
