Golden Slipper Field 2012 to include two Darley runners

Last years Golden Slipper winning owners ‘Darley’ have accepted and will run two horses in Saturday’s Group 1 Golden Slipper at Rosehill racecourse over 1200m.

Darley racing who is owned by Sheikh Mohammed went into last years edition of the race with the clear favourite ‘Sepoy’ and this year they will have two runners in the race those being Epaulette and Narcissus.

Epaulette is currently the best supported Darley runner in Saturday's Golden Slipper Stakes

The more fancied of the two runners ‘Epaulette’ won this years Black Opal Stakes in Canberra before running a very close second behind Pierro in the Todman Stakes. The son of Commands is currently a $9 chance with TAB sportsbet and looks to be one of the major players in Saturday’s race which is now dominated by Samaready after Patinack Farm decided not to run star colt All Too Hard.

Narcissus is the second of the Darley runners who will be running on Saturday, the 2YO by Exceed And Excel is yet to win a race from his three starts but has been ultra impressive none the less. Last start he ran very well behind All Too Hard when only beaten a length on the line by the early market Golden Slipper favourite. Narcissus is a certain starter in the Golden Slipper Field and is currently a $26 shot to win the race which looks like tremendous value if you forget that he is yet to win.

The barrier draw for the 2012 Golden Slipper will commence between 12-1pm today and we will bring readers a live blog of the events.
