Trainer John Zielke is looking to continue his successful season with two-year-olds as Dreams Aplenty head to the Group Two Champange Classic.

The Caloundra trainer won his 10th juvenile race of the season when Royal Tithe took out the Group Three Ken Russell Memorial at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

That race has been an outstanding guide to future stars with subsequent Group One winners Gold Edition, Spirit Of Boom, Hot Snitzel and Sizzling on the honour roll.

Zielke believes Royal Tithe is on the way to joining them but rates Dreams Aplenty not far from the filly.

Dreams A Plenty has had two starts for a Sunshine Coast win and a second to Winning Rupert at the same track two weeks ago.

“I have entered only two horses for the (Group One) J J Atkins – Royal Tithe and Dreams Aplenty,” Zielke said.

“They have both been working very well and there isn’t much between them.

“At this stage Dreams Aplenty will run in the Champagne Classic on Saturday and should be hard to beat if he draws a good barrier.”

The Zielke-trained four-time winner Spot The Diff, was 11th in the Ken Russell and will now be kept for the Listed races over the winter.

All of the stable’s two-year-olds are owned Evan Hartley’s Dovedeen syndicate which has become the leading overall owner in Queensland this season.

Hartley, a successful owner-trainer in the 1970s and 80s, has battled ill heath in recent years but the wins have been a great tonic for him.

Trainer Kelly Schweida is also likely to press on to the Sires and J J Atkins with Oink, second in the Ken Russell.

“He is still six months away from being a top horse,” Schweida said.
