Caulfield Guineas Tips, Field Preview and Selections – 2021

It’s the biggest race of the year and by no means do we hold any bias towards the Neds Caulfield Guineas.

In all seriousness, a bumper list of three-year-olds will contest the $2 million feature race in Melbourne on Saturday, and with the likes of Anamoe and Artorius engaged, the Neds Caulfield Guineas is a fascinating betting affair.

Caulfield Guineas – Winner

Tip: No. 2 Artorius

I’m confident that Artorius will be named the 2021 Neds Caulfield Guineas winner.

Artorius enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence during his two-year-old campaign and won the Neds Blue Diamond at just his third trip to the races.

He finished second at each of his first two starts back this time, and while I concede that I did have a question mark over him getting out in trip, boy he was impressive late in the Golden Rose.

He is at peak condition for Saturday’s contest and has options from barrier 2.

Caulfield Guineas – 2nd

Tip: No. 1 Anamoe

Anamoe is probably the best horse in the Neds Caulfield Guineas field, but he’ll need some luck on Saturday after drawing barrier 15.

He was the standout performer of his two-year-old crop, and placed in both the Neds Blue Diamond and the Golden Slipper before recording a deserved win in the Inglis Sires’.

His fresh performance and win in The Run To The Rose last month was stunning and he only just missed in the Golden Rose. I understand why he has been priced favourite in Neds Caulfield Guineas betting, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the winner’s stall.

Caulfield Guineas – 3rd

Tip: No. 3 Tiger Of Malay

He is one of the few horses in the Neds Caulfield Guineas who is proven over a mile, and I am confident that Tiger Of Malay will run another good race.

The Richard & Michael Freedman-trained colt has missed placing only a handful of times in his ten career starts so far, winning the BRC Sires’ and running third in the JJ Atkins during his two-year-old season most notably.

He returned to the races a winner in the Up And Coming Stakes, only just missed in the Dulcify two back and takes his place in this race following a credible fifth placing in the Golden Rose.

Caulfield Guineas – 4th

Tip: No. 6 Lightsaber

Lightsaber was an impressive winner of the Prelude, and he’ll be in the Neds Caulfield Guineas for a long way as well.

Zoustar colt just kept winning as he progressed and the bar was raised in the autumn, knocking off three races in succession, including the VRC Sires’ Produce most notably.

Lightsaber has again continued to improve with each of his three back this time, and his effort in the Prelude suggested that he will be in peak condition for Saturday’s feature.
