Anamoe to headline the 2022 Expressway Stakes day at Rosehill

Boom colt Anamoe has been nominated to make his much-awaited return in Saturday’s Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill.

In what is sure to be a thrilling Saturday at Rosehill with the resumption of Group racing, Godolphin ace Anamoe is prepared to return in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m).

Having achieved success last campaign when saluting in the Caulfield Guineas and beaten slender margins in both the Cox Plate and Golden Rose, the three-year-old looks set use Saturday’s main event as a springboard into what will undoubtedly be an exciting Autumn carnival.

One of 12 runners nominated for the $200,000 feature, Anamoe could be joined by sparring partner Tiger Of Malay and fellow three-year-old Overpass, who too will be resuming and hoping to use the race as a steppingstone into the Autumn.

Other intriguing nominations include 2020 winner Standout, Surround Stakes winner Forbidden Love, and Queensland returnees Away Game, Holyfield, Superium, Snapdancer and Wisdom Of Water.

Playing undercard to the Expressway is the two-year-olds, with the Group 3 Widden (Fillies) and Canonbury (Colts and Geldings) Stakes over the 1100m.

With 15 Fillies nominated for the Widden Stakes, it is the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Ebhaar that spearheads the list of nominees, with stablemates Drisana and Revolutionary Miss chances to join the Listed winner.

Also with three fillies nominated is Annabel Neasham. The Warwick Farm trainer could line up debutant Tot Of Rum and race experienced duo Mumbai Jewel and Smart Vengeance.

Meanwhile in the Canonbury, Neasham once again has a strong contingent of runners with four nominations: Sweet Ride, Man In The Mirror, Flashing Steel and Wicked Games.

Champion trainer Chris Waller also has three nominees with Zambezi River, Robusto and the unraced Great Barrier Reef who has caught the eye at the trials.
