71 juveniles remain in 2016 Blue Diamond Stakes Field

Seventy-one two-year-olds remain in contention for the $1.5 million Blue Diamond Stakes after third declarations.

Of those, 18 are set to line up in either the $250,000 Inglis Premier (1200m) or the Group Three Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Blue Diamond favourite Extreme Choice heads a field of nine for the Chairman’s while the unbeaten Peter Moody-trained colt Hell Of An Effort, an $18 Blue Diamond chance, runs in the Inglis Premier.

Eight of the runners in the Chairman’s are still in the Diamond entries while 10 of the Inglis Premier contenders remain in the latest declarations.

Caulfield trainer Mick Price and the training partnership of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig both have 10 horses still among the entries.

Price’s hopes include Extreme Choice and Flying Artie.

The powerful Godolphin operation has two horses left in the entries, Gimcrack Stakes winner Calliope who shares the second line of betting at $8 and Cohesion ($15) who won the colts and geldings Preview last week.

Defcon ($8) is one of three contenders left from the Peter and Paul Snowden stable which won the race last year with Pride Of Dubai.

The Blue Diamond Preludes are run at Caulfield on Saturday week with the Group One Blue Diamond on February 27.

Late entries can be made by February 22 on payment of $55,000.
