20/11/2013 Horse Racing Tips – Sale racecourse

A strong eight race card will be run and won at Sale on Wednesday. The weather is fine, the track is dead and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race One: Bundaberg Rum Handicap (64) 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Plenty to like about the debut win of By The Grace on Kyneton Cup Day. She wasn’t wanted in betting, but produced a smart finish to overhaul Chautauqua, who is an above average type that will be winning races. Small field suits and she looks hard to beat.
Big Danger: Not sure what she beat, but Girl In Flight was quite impressive in her debut performance, winning quite comfortably on a wet track at Pakenham. Stable is flying and the jockey is one of the form riders in Victoria.
Roughie: Tearaway Tommy did nothing at Cranbourne after winning his maiden at Pakenham, but the big key here is Oliver booked to ride. Be very cautious about this runner.

Race Two: Wild Turkey Rare Maiden Plate 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: In a maiden which carries no depth at all, we will put Alpha Sentura on top. Put together two placings behind a couple of handy gallopers, then was caught wide at the Valley and never got into the race. Oliver should spear this gelding over from the wide barrier and be somewhere near the speed, and if he is ever going to perform at a higher level, he needs to put this field away.
Big Danger: Tasman Traveller was unwanted in betting on debut, but hit the line strongly when second to Girl In Flight, who is a live chance in the first event. Like we said, no depth here, so include this bloke.
Roughie: Break Even looked to be travelling beautifully in the run on debut over the 1100m here, but as soon as he came off the bit, he wanted to lay in badly and was never extended. With better manners, he can figure in the finish.

Race Three: Koppaberg Ciders Maiden Plate 1717m Form Guide

Back Me: Best bet on the card here in Tremont. Really caught the eye on debut on Benalla Cup Day, rattling home from near last, then bumped into a good one in Mambo Lady on Seymour Cup Day before running a cracking third to Leverock at the Valley. Should be odds on, but should be winning.
Big Danger: Red Hot Rum was well backed first up over the mile at Ballarat but wasn’t suited by the slow pace. He ran home well, but had no winning chance after a furlong. With more genuine speed here, he can figure.
Roughie: Zanteco is an out and out stayer who will definitely be suited over further, but his first up run was quite good.

Race Four: XXXX Gold Maiden Plate 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: That man again in Damien Oliver looks to be a leading contender, this time with the Mick Price trained Superb. First two runs were on the Geelong Synthetic, resulting in a second and a third, then stepped up to a strong two year old race at Caulfield and sitting on the pace before folding up late. First up here, drawn well…looks very hard to hold out.
Big Danger: Gold Divine has the bad habit of not having much early pace from the barriers. He tends to get a long way back and rattle home. If he can somehow sit a touch closer to the tempo, he will certainly be in the finish.
Roughie: Bianco Cruise got to the line well enough on debut at Ballarat to suggest he is a horse who will be winning races. Not sure if it’s here, but definitely include him in exotics.

Race Five: Canadian Club Handicap (64) 1000m Form Guide

Back Me: At The Tap was well supported first up over the 1100m here and after copping some pressure in front, he only tired over the final furlong, so the drop back to 1000m, inside barrier and added fitness should see him prove a tough nut to gun down.
Big Danger: Innocent Hero didn’t look comfortable at all on the sloppy surface at Pakenham but still trounced his rivals, which is the sign of a handy horse. He’ll get a gun run from the draw and is a massive threat.
Roughie: Follow My Lead won that race At The Tap ran third in, and was quite impressive. Meets that horse much worse off at the weights, but is in form and is rock hard fit.

Race Six: Coopers Mild Handicap (64) 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: Really keen on Tyanna. Didn’t come up last preparation, but in every start she was in a city race. Dropping back to the provincials will suit, and she did trial really nicely a few weeks back at Cranbourne.
Big Danger: Sunset In Venice was a good winner on debut at Mornington, getting a narrow split along the rails and charging to the line. Yes, there was bias in her favour, but she was heavily supported to win, so that’s an indication she must have shown something at home. Wouldn’t rule her out.
Roughie: Roxanne Of Sydney is first up here, and will be better suited at a mile and beyond, but her form last time in was excellent, and if the pace is on in front, she’ll be charging over the top.

Race Seven: Pepper Jack Barossa Wines Handicap (78) 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Olly is at it again, this time with Waterford Hill. Was well supported by punters when resuming on Kyneton Cup Day, but got too far back, and at Kyneton, it’s near impossible to come from last and win, but he still made up good ground in the straight. Drops big time in depth here, and Olly takes the ride.
Big Danger: Royal Island raced a touch flat second up last week at Ballarat, but was still good enough to get the job done. He’ll be much better for that run, and with a firmer surface, he is a clear threat.
Roughie: Dance For Cash will probably start favourite in this race given he has been racing in much tougher company than this. He should be in the finish, but the only query is whether or not he has had enough. The signs were there at Flemington that may be the case. Betting flucs will be the best guide.

Race Eight: Monacellars Wines & Spirits Handicap (70) 1717m Form Guide

Back Me: Mr Sommerville ran a strong race first up at Kilmore, then backed that up with a dominant win at Bendigo. That was only his second run back from a break, so there should be improvement left in him. Arnold sticks and draws well…looks one of the better bets on the program.
Big Danger: Rocknet ran two good races prior to his maiden win at this track a couple of weeks back. Margin wasn’t big, but he knuckled down to the task when asked by Brad Rawiller. Michael Rodd takes over now, and in a tricky race, he has upside and should get a lovely cart into the race.
Roughie: Duplicity Jones is first up, but appears wound up for it based on his placing in a barrier trial to stakes performer Fieldmaster. Suited over slightly further, but drawn the paint and down in the weights.

Best Bet: Tremont

Next Best: Mr Sommerville
