Watson returns for World Cup warm-up

Injury-plagued allrounder Shane Watson will return to action in Australia’s World Cup warm-up game against India on Sunday.

Watson says he has recovered from hamstring tightness which sidelined him from the tri-series final against England last Sunday.

But the Australians will be without captain Michael Clarke (hamstring) and allrounder James Faulkner (abdominal strain) in Sunday’s Adelaide Oval fixture.

Watson says Clarke is on target to return for Australia’s second game of the World Cup against Bangladesh on February 21, a week after their tournament opener against England.

“It’s nice to have Michael back in and around the group again, I know everyone is very confident that he’ll be right to play the second game,” Watson said.
