Vics bat first in Shield match against SA

Victoria will bat after winning the toss against South Australia in the Sheffield Shield match starting on Thursday at Adelaide Oval.

The match is the first twilight Shield fixture, with play to start at noon (ACDT) and scheduled to finish at 1900 (ACDT).

The Bushrangers, in fourth spot on the Shield table with 12 points, named Meyrick Buchanan as their 12th man, with the state’s under 19 captain to be released for Friday’s Prime Minister’s XI match against Sri Lanka in Canberra.

SA, languishing in last spot with just two points, made Carl Tjietens their 12th man and handed first-class debuts to batsman Travis Head and legspinner Cameron Williams.
