Opening batsman Upul Tharanga will lead Sri Lanka in a one-day tour match against a Victorian 2nd XI at Junction Oval on Wednesday.

Tharanga has been named as skipper for the tourists in their first match in Australia ahead of the triangular one-day international series next month.

Regular captain Mahela Jayawardene as well as former skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan and star paceman Lasith Malinga are all rested for the match.

Sri Lanka will also play against a Prime Minister’s XI captained by Brad Haddin in Canberra on Friday ahead of their first one-day international against India at the WACA Ground on February 8.
