SA’s Klinger fined for Shield dissent

South Australian batsman Michael Klinger has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision in his team’s narrow Sheffield Shield win over Tasmania.

The charge arose from an incident on the final day in Hobart on Saturday when South Australia appealed for a catch taken low to the ground.

The umpire deemed the ball had bounced and gave the batsman not out but Klinger displayed “inappropriate behaviour” towards the umpire.

It was Klinger’s second level one offence in 18 months, so the charge was automatically heard in front of Cricket Australia code of behaviour commissioner Tony Daly. He pleaded guilty.
