Lanky ex-South Australian speedster Peter George will audition for the Queensland one-day team after earning selection for the Bulls’ pre-season limited overs hitouts against Ireland.
George – who played his sole Test for Australia in India in 2010 – has been given the nod for Queensland’s one-day clashes with Ireland on Tuesday on the Gold Coast and Thursday at Redlands, south of Brisbane.
They will be Queensland’s last hit-outs before they finalise their squad for their one-day title defence starting against Victoria at the Gabba on October 4.
The 203cm George relocated to Queensland in the off-season after losing his state contract with South Australia.
He is yet to earn a Bulls contract but has been invited to train with the Queensland senior and Academy of Sport squads in the pre-season.
George, 27, has taken 12 wickets at 10.67 for Wynnum-Manly in the first two weekends of Brisbane Premier Grade, including a haul of 5-35.
Ireland are using the matches to warm-up for the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
