AFL players Michael Rischitelli and Luke Russell have had their contracts extended with Gold Coast.

Suns vice-captain Rischitelli re-signed for one year and defender Russell for two, the Suns announced on Friday.

Former Lion Rischitelli joined the club in 2010 and was recently named most professional player.

This year, he overcame a niggling hamstring injury that marred his 2013 season to play 21 matches.

Meanwhile, Russell, who signed with the nascent club as a teenager, and has gone on to play 56 games for the side.

“I’m rapt to have re-signed, the club has been really good to me and I plan to repay them in the future,” the 22-year-old said.
