Queensland’s cricketers have moved on from the Boof age and are ready to start the rule of Law.

New coach Stuart Law will get his first taste of competitive action with the Brisbane Heat later this month at the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in India.

Law faces big shoes to fill following popular Lehmann’s two-year stint at the helm in Queensland during which he won a Sheffield Shield and one-day cup with the Bulls as well as last summer’s Big Bash League with the Heat.

The former Bulls batsman will be thrown straight into the deep end as he tries to emulate the Heats’ domestic success at the lucrative Champions League, with the winning franchise set to earn $US2.5 million ($A2.70 million).

Heat spinner Nathan Hauritz believes the team has moved on from the loss of Lehmann and are excited about what lies ahead under Law.

“It’s a great opportunity for Lawie to come in and work with us and it’s a great honour for him to be working with us. He’s a legend of Queensland cricket,” Hauritz told AAP.

“He’ll bring different ideas to Darren.

“We wish him (Lehmann) all the best but it’s a great opportunity for all of us to build the next part of Queensland cricket’s culture.”

The Heat head off on Sunday and play their first game of the tournament on September 22 against Trinidad and Tobago.

Hauritz, among the most experienced of the Heat squad in playing on the subcontinent, said he and his teammates were confident of continuing Australia’s strong record in the tournament.

“We’d love to. The benefit of Australian teams is we’re together the whole time,” he said.

“The IPL teams only come together just beforehand so they lack a bit of continuity and it takes a little bit to get there. We’re still very keen to fly the Australian flag as are the (Perth) Scorchers.

“You’ve got to get off to a good start in this competition and try and get the momentum going.”
