The frustration continued for Australia’s women cricketers with the second one-day international against New Zealand abandoned due to Sydney’s wet weather on Friday.

Two days after the first game of the Rose Bowl series at the SCG was called-off after 22 overs, rain lashed Blacktown in Sydney’s west and the game was called off before a ball was bowled.

Australia star Ellyse Perry said the positive to take from the situation was the prospect of a thrilling winner-takes-all match at Blacktown on Sunday.

“It’s really a good opportunity for both teams now this game carries added pressure given that it will decide the Rose Bowl series,” Perry told AAP.

“It’s quiet a good chance for both teams to play in what should be an interesting and exciting match.

“We’ll both need to be pretty aggressive from the word go and that should make for some great cricket.”

Perry admitted it’s been a trying week for the Australians who were looking forward to getting into the one-dayers after taking an unassailable 3-0 lead the five-game Twenty20 series over the Kiwis.

“We can’t take a trick at the moment. We got out onto the field to warm up today and it rained, then we had to head back into the sheds, it was a little bit frustrating,” she said.

“Something we spoke about after the first three Twenty 20s was carrying on our form into the longer form of the game.

“It would have been nice to continue playing straight away but now we’ll just have to wait for Sunday.”

The final two matches of the Twenty20 series will be held next month.
