Paceman Mitchell Johnson has set his sights on helping Australia produce an undefeated World Cup campaign, and he won’t mind if he doesn’t open the bowling every game.

Australia will enter the showpiece event full of confidence after thrashing England by 112 runs in Sunday’s Tri-Series final at the WACA Ground.

Johnson, who was rested for the group stage of the series, produced a devastating spell against England in the final to secure another piece of silverware for Australia.

The 33-year-old didn’t open the bowling in that game, but had three wickets to his name within the space of 16 balls after being introduced in the seventh over.

Johnson is expected to open the bowling with either Mitchell Starc or Josh Hazlewood during most games at the World Cup, but the left-armer said he would be happy to drop to first change if it suited the team best.

“In one-day cricket you have got to learn to adapt, and I felt pretty comfortable,” Johnson said.

“I have always said I love opening the bowling for my country, (but) it just depends on conditions.

“We have two left-armers and we have to think about what is best for our team.

“If it’s me coming in at first change, I am happy to do that.”

Australia will play warm-up games against India and the United Arab Emirates before opening their World Cup campaign begins against England at the MCG on February 14.

England skipper Eoin Morgan claims all the pressure will be on Australia in that game, but Johnson thinks otherwise.

“I think they are dreaming if they think they are not under pressure,” Johnson said.

“(The tournament) is a knock-out situation and you have to win pretty much every game, that is the way I see it.

“We will try to win all the games we play in.

“There will be a little bit more pressure on us being a home World Cup, but we are prepared for that.”

All-rounder James Faulkner is in doubt for the World Cup after he injured his side while bowling against England on Sunday.

Australia are a four-time winner of the World Cup, but they got knocked out in the quarterfinals of the 2011 event.
