The first Western Derby of the year has arrived and there is no shortage of talking points.
The Eagles were one of the stories of the round last week in their romping upset over Richmond, a result that, surprisingly, boiled down to their players buying into their defensive structure behind the ball.
Not only was West Coast lethal around the centre clearances, but they also held Richmond to 26 fewer inside 50s overall.
As for their rivals, lets just say the Dockers suddenly wreak of flat track bully.
Back to back losses to Carlton and Port Adelaide, albeit in narrow fashion, has left many wondering if Freo is a genuine finals contender, or simply a middle of the pack team that belong somewhere around 9th or 10th.
Until we know more, it feels as though the same low-scoring, timid Dockers side has reemerged, one that seemed to have disappeared in the opening rounds.
Fortunately, for as good as West Coast were last week, its hard to entertain any kind of upset against a much better opponent like Fremantle.
Richmond was battered and bruised and also traveling for the second week in a row, two things that cant be said for the Dockers.
Based on their low-scoring ways, I cant get on board with the line, but considering the last two Derbys have gone Over the Total, a Freo win combined with a high-scoring game looks the play.
