Sydney Swans vs North Melbourne Kangaroos Tips, Odds and Teams – 2018 AFL Round 7

Saturday’s AFL 2018 Round 7 match is between Sydney Swans and North Melbourne Kangaroos. The opening kick is set to commence at 19:25 local time with the game to be played at SCG. The home team Sydney Swans are the favourites for the match. View our preview and teams for the game between Sydney Swans and North Melbourne Kangaroos.

When: 19:25 | Saturday 05/05/2018

Where: SCG

Preview:

Without Lance Franklin and Sam Reid, the Swans have found a couple of different avenues to goal and some of the Swans young players in Oliver Florent and and Will Hayward have stood up which is pleasing.
The Swans normally target an opposition player and they haven’t targeted anyone in the last fortnight which has been surprising.
Ben Brown is the man I’d be giving the most attention to.
North’s set up from the centre with just three forwards inside 50 should work well in the smaller ground at the SCG as long as their midfielders can match Sydney at the centre bounce.
KEY BATTLE: Heath Grundy v Ben Brown
Grundy has been well beaten by Taylor Walker and Tom Hawkins in the last fortnight.
It won’t get an easier against the competition’s leading goal kicker this week.
The Verdict
Sydney have lost two games at home already this year and they’ll be determined not to let another one slip.
The Swans have a 25-14 (64.1 percent) record as a home team, after an interstate match since 2014.

AFL News:

Sydney hope to have Lance Franklin back to face his former club next week, but fellow forward Gary Rohan is set to celebrate a milestone this weekend.

Rohan is due to bring up his 100th game in his ninth season against North Melbourne at the SCG on Saturday.

Franklin missed last week’s win over Geelong with a bruised heel and has already been ruled out of Saturday’s match, but could return the following Friday against Hawthorn at the MCG.

“Lance is tracking well,” Swans head of football Tom Harley said.

“This time last week he was in considerable pain and was using crutches to get around, he’s now moving a lot more freely.

“He won’t play this week against North Melbourne, but we do have a view certainly to get him going and every chance to play against Hawthorn next Friday night.

“He’ll probably need to start running and then start to build into some training next week, but he’s certainly tending in the right direction.”

Midfielder Dan Hannebery could also return against Hawthorn, though his groin issue will sideline him for a second week.

The news isn’t as positive for key defender Lewis Melican, who has already missed three weeks with a hamstring strain.

He has suffered a setback and will probably be out for another two to three weeks.

Rohan has had his share of injuries, which restricted him to just 27 games in his first four seasons.

He also had a difficult time last month, when one of the twins his wife gave birth to did not survive due to anencephaly, a rare brain condition.

“He’s obviously someone that has been through everything you can imagine,” Swans forward Isaac Heeney said.

“For someone to come through that and perform like he has been, he’s crucial for us down forward there.

“It shows his character, he’s just an unbelievable person, off-field and a superstar on the field as well, so crucial for our team.”

Heeney is having a strong start to 2018 after he missed the first four games of last season while recovering from glandular fever.
