Richmond Tigers vs Sydney Swans Preview
It’s hardly time to panic, but there are some concerning signs starting to emerge from Tiger Land.
Co-captain Toby Nankervis joining Tom Lynch for a stint on the sideline sits at the top, followed closely by the fact the Tigers aren’t winning the clearances and are struggling to string together consistent four-quarter performances.
On the opposite side this week sit the Swans, a team that has also garnered plenty of attention after falling short by a meter on the final siren to Port Adelaide.
Last year’s Grand Final runner-ups failed to respond to the Power’s pressure and momentum in the second half, while the Swans also have their own injury concerns with key defender Paddy McCartin sent for another stint on the sideline due to concussion.
Again, this is another game that could easily make-or-break both club’s respective seasons, and just to add some flavour, it’s worth remembering the Tigers lost in controversial fashion on the final siren to this same Swans outfit last year.
The fact the Swans have only beaten up on the Hawks and Suns so far is alarming, but it’s hard to ignore the fact the Tigers had to claw their way back from an early deficit against the Dogs last week.
Despite some of their flaws, the Swans still rank top five in points scored this year, so unless Jack Riewoldt can rewind the clock, it’s hard to see the Tigers keeping up with this dominant Sydney forward line.
