Port’s Trengove reportedly in hotel brawl

Port Adelaide utility Jackson Trengove has arrived at training with a black eye after allegedly being involved in a pub brawl.

Port is investigating the incident on Saturday night and is awaiting video footage of a fight outside a hotel at beachside Glenelg.

The AFL club is refusing to confirm the identity of the player involved in the incident.

But it’s understood to be Trengove who is a member of the club’s leadership group.

The club expects to release the outcome of its investigation later Monday.

“It’s pointless, really, coming in and trying to give you bits and pieces of facts,” Port’s assistant coach Michael Voss told reporters.

“The important thing is that we get it all together and we get all the information in front of us. And then we can communicate it effectively so we’re not making decisions before we need to.”

Voss refused to confirm Trengove as the player involved.

“I’m not going to say who it is at this stage,” he said.

“We’re going to wait and we’ll get that information out as it comes to hand.

“But as a club we have been fairly transparent when these things have come about, so we’ll be no different in this instance.

“It’s important that we get all of the information first. We wait for that … and then we can make some decisions.”

The incident came a day after Port thrashed Carlton in a Friday night match at Adelaide Oval.

Voss said Port players were under to restrictions as to their time away from the club.

“They (players) are still human beings and they have a life away from here,” he said.
