As far as statements go, it doesn’t get any bigger than a win over the Swans at the SCG.

Just when it looked like the Power of last season had returned, Port rallied from a two-goal deficit at three-quarter time to down the Swans by two points in a thriller last Saturday.

Aliir Aliir was magnificent down back when it counted, while the Power did extremely well to make full use of their limited time inside their forward half.

Up next, a dangerous-looking Dogs side that has also turned a corner over the last fortnight.

Luke Beveridge’s men built on their win over the Lions a fortnight earlier to down the Tigers in sloppy conditions, an encouraging performance despite blowing a healthy lead in the second term.

These two sides have played out some absolute belters in recent years with Port winning two of the last three encounters by two goals or less, and the pair do share some similarities on the stat sheet.

Both Port and the Dogs rank among the top five worst teams in points allowed to the opposition, which has me leaning toward the Over in this one.

The Power gave up a ton of inside 50 chances to the Swans last week, including one that nearly cost them the game right on the siren.

Likewise, the Dogs have had their own issues down back, so rather than risking it head-to-head, I fancy this to be a high-scoring contest.
