Pie Moore nominated for Rising Star

Injured forward Darcy Moore did enough in one half of Collingwood’s win over West Coast to earn the AFL Rising Star nomination for round 20.

Moore injured his hamstring at the MCG on Saturday and played no part in the second half of the Magpies’ 19-point win.

But the 20-year-old thoroughly impressed in the opening two quarters, clutching six contested marks and booting three goals.

“Darcy has very quickly accepted the responsibility of being a young leader in this team,” Magpies coach Nathan Buckley said.

Buckley confirmed on Fox Footy that Moore was likely to miss his side’s clash with Richmond on Friday night.

“We expect Darce will be unlikely to play, off a six-day break,” Buckley said.

“We’ll see how he recovers.”

Meanwhile, Collingwood are upbeat Alex Fasolo (shoulder) and Jarryd Blair (groin) will be fit to return against the Tigers.

“I’m pretty confident that he (Fasolo) will get up,” football manager Neil Balme told the club website.

“He (Blair) is feeling much better and we’re almost certain that he’ll play this week.”
