North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Hawthorn Hawks Preview

West Coast looks to have the wooden spoon wrapped up at this point, but this could still prove a crucial clash between 16th and 17th on the ladder.

The Hawks have struggled massively down back in James Sicily’s absence, but they should take plenty away from a 13-point loss to the Giants last week that saw the dominate the stoppages by a clear margin.

North, on the other hand, continues to spiral.

The Roos have lacked direction since Alastair Clarkson stepped away, and it feels like the club has a few tough decisions to make on a handful of key players like Jack Ziebell.

Effort was severely lacking at times last week in a 62-point loss to the Cats, and although Nick Larkey might kick a bag against Hawthorn’s shaky back line, it’s fair to say the Hawks might enjoy their own fill-up in front of goal.

Next to West Coast, the Roos have been one of the easiest teams to score against, which does spell disaster with Fergus Greene and Mitch Lewis in strong goal-kicking form.

The Hawks have won three in a row against North, although it’s worth noting the Kangaroos have covered in seven straight games under the roof at Marvel.

With that in mind, Hawthorn winning a close game looks the likely outcome.
