International rules leaders named

Current AFL captains Robert Murphy, Nick Riewoldt and Luke Hodge are in a five-man leadership group for the Australian international rules team.

Former Hawks skipper Sam Mitchell and veteran Geelong defender Harry Taylor are also in the group.

The captain will be named in New York on Saturday (AEST) at the squad’s jumper presentation.

The Australians are having a training camp in New York ahead of the November 21 Test against Ireland at Dublin’s Croke Park.

Hodge has captained Hawthorn to the last three premierships, while Murphy was honoured for his role in the Western Bulldogs’ exceptional season when he was named All-Australian skipper.

Riewoldt has captained the Saints since 2008.
