2013 Grand Finallists Hawthorn and Fremantle have been installed $4.50 equal favourites at Centrebet to win the 2014 AFL premiership.

“Hawthorn was the dominate team this year and deserved to win the premiership. They have a great list and will again be one of the toughest teams to beat in 2014 even if Buddy decides to leave,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.

“Fremantle looked nervous in its first Grand Final and will be much better prepared next year with that experience. We think the Dockers and the Hawks will again be the benchmark in 2014.”

Geelong, who lost to the Hawks in a thirlling preliminary final this year, is third favourite at $5. Next in betting is Sydney at $7 who was knocked out by Fremantle in the other preliminary final.

“We think the top four teams this year are clearly ahead of the rest of the competition and would be very surprised if next year’s winner comes from outside them,” Felgate said.

Richmond is next in betting with North Melbourne and Collingwood at $15.

“That is the shortest pre-season price Richmond has been to win a premiership since we have been betting on footy. They were big improvers this year and despite a disappointing finals series can big players again next year,” Felgate said.
