It’s an interesting time to be a fan of the St Kilda footy club.

The highs of a perfect 4-0 start feel like a distant memory after Ross Lyon’s defensive-minded approach came undone last week in a 52-point loss to the Crows.

It’s become apparent that teams who can score freely and quickly are capable of overcoming the Saints’ stingy ways, and although the Giants aren’t of the same caliber up forward, this still shapes as a difficult road test.

GWS has suffered a pair of losses to the in-form Dogs and Pies, but it’s fair to say they’ve kicked themselves out of the contest with some bad misses in front of goal.

What the Giants have done well this year under Adam Kingsley is win the contested footy and dispose of it well, but what’s let them down is tackling and winning the clearances.

As it happens, those are two key areas the Saints haven’t been particularly strong in either, which makes this a fascinating contest with enormous value on offer.

The Giants have scored over 100 points only twice all year, but that’s more than can be said for St Kilda.

Up forward, GWS is still a formidable opponent with Harry Himmelberg, Toby Greene, and Jesse Hogan roaming inside 50, and they do remain one of the more dangerous teams on the rebound.

Given the fact the Saints are 0-2 at GIANTS Stadium, there’s a bit to like about GWS causing an upset in this one.
