Greater Western Sydney veteran James McDonald faces a two-match suspension stemming from the expansion club’s first AFL match.
McDonald has been charged with rough conduct over an incident in which he downed Sydney youngster Luke Parker with a heavy bump during the opening term of Saturday night’s season-opener at ANZ Stadium.
McDonald was deemed by the match review panel to have acted negligently and made high contact with high impact.
It’s charge adds up to a three-match sanction, which can be reduced to a two-game ban provided the 33-year-old former Melbourne captain submits an early guilty plea on Tuesday.
No other charges were laid from Saturday night’s match.
If McDonald accepts the ban, he will miss matches against North Melbourne and West Coast.
