Freo sign Griffin, Suban to new AFL deals

Injured Fremantle ruckman Jon Griffin has signed a one-year extension, tying him to the AFL club until at least the end of 2015.

And speedy defender Nick Suban has put pen to paper on a three-year deal that secures his future until the end of 2017.

Griffin hasn’t played since injuring his knee in round seven this year.

The 27-year-old is expected to be fit for the start of the 2014 campaign, and Fremantle are confident he’ll make a full recovery.

“Rehab is going really well and I am ticking all the boxes to make sure my body is 100 per cent,” Griffin said.

“I’m pushing for round one. I have all the support of the physios and strength and conditioning coaches. I just can’t wait to get out there and play for Freo again.”

Suban enjoyed a breakout season this year, playing 22 games to help the side reach the grand final.

“It was probably the most consistent year that I’ve had,” Suban said.

“I thought it just boiled down to having a full pre-season.”
