Dustin Fletcher to miss Anzac day match

Essendon and Collingwood have opted against rolling the dice on the selection front for their Anzac Day AFL blockbuster at the MCG.

Magpies ruckman Darren Jolly, who has missed the past two games with a rib injury, will play in the reserves this weekend, while Bombers defender Dustin Fletcher will be given another week to recover from a groin injury.

Essendon made three changes all up, but prized father-son recruit Joe Daniher wasn’t among the inclusions for what would have been a fairytale debut.

Forward Stewart Crameri returns after missing last week’s win over St Kilda due to a knee injury, while Kyle Hardingham and Travis Colyer earned recalls.

Michael Hurley (ankle), Tayte Pears and Jake Melksham were the three to make way.

Collingwood made just one change, recalling Tyson Goldsack for Josh Thomas.

The Magpies have won their past seven matches against Essendon, but only prevailed by a point in the corresponding Anzac Day fixture last year.

St Kilda big man Justin Koschitzke will play his first game of the season after earning a recall for Thursday’s historic clash with Sydney in New Zealand.

Koschitzke was among five changes for the Saints, with All-Australian defender Sean Dempster (wrist) another big inclusion.

St Kilda will field two debutants in the form of Brodie Murdoch and Josh Saunders, while Tom Lee was the other player included.

Sydney recalled Craig Bird and Andrejs Everitt for Lewis Roberts-Thomson (knee) and forward Mitch Morton (dropped).

The match at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium is the first home-and-away fixture to be played outside Australia.
